Ayesha Kazmi



Ayesha Kazmi is a Muslim American writer/journalist/blogger living in London, England

Ayesha currently works as a researcher at London based NGO Cageprisoners examining anti-terrorism laws and counter-terrorism strategy in the United Kingdom and contributes regularly as a features writer and blogger. She also freelances and has work published at The Guardian

She received her BA at the University of Massachusetts Boston in American Studies and English and her MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in Middle Eastern Studies. Her dissertation was on miscegenation in Israel

Over five years ago, she left her birthplace, Boston, MA in the United States, and moved to London, England. Since, she has been attempting to give life as a ‘Paki’ a genuine chance

REMONA ALY – Co-Author

Remona Aly is the Campaigns Director for Exploring Islam Foundation (EIF) which specialises in creative resources and high profile campaigns about Islam and Muslims across media platforms. The inaugural poster-led campaign, “Inspired by Muhammad” was covered by national and international media including Sky News, BBC, Voice of America, Al Jazeera, Al Hurra, MBC, The Times, The Independent and hundreds of other media outlets. ‘The second campaign “Missing Pages” was a more sensitive and challenging one. Launched around Holocaust Memorial Day, Missing Pages explored the untold stories of solidarity between Muslims and Jews

Remona is also a freelance journalist and has published work in The Guardian, Al Jazeera English, New Europe, Q-News and Common Ground News. She is the former Deputy Editor of emel, Britain’s first glossy Muslim lifestyle magazine which has a national and international subscriber base

She holds a BA in English Literature and Classical Studies, and an MA in Medieval Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London. She currently resides in Kent, UK where she was born and raised

SABA ZAMAN – Co-Author

Saba Zaman is a broadcast journalist for the BBC World Service and is frequently posted all around the world. Her voice has been heard on her documentaries anywhere and everywhere that carries BBC World Service radio. She previously worked as a reporter for Islam Channel and Reuters in New York City

Saba completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Comparative Religions at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS)

Saba wears many caps! She is an avid traveller, a diversity and race relations advisor, a school governor, a volunteer,  and a youth mentor
